Annotation: The use of servo drives on flying vehicles determines the requirements to their dynamic characteristics. The problems of dynamics of drive with jet motor are not practically covered in publications. The task arises of selection of structure and parameters of devices consisting of several subsystems whose dynamic characteristics must be brought into agreement with each other in optimal way. The purpose of this work is to develop mathematical dependences for calculation of dynamic characteristics. The functional arrangement of the drive is considered consisting of jet motor based on Segner wheel with de Laval nozzle, mechanical transmission, pneumatic distributing device – jet pipe controlled by electromechanical converter. The layout is presented of mechanical segment of servo drive with jet motor with screw-nut transmission. The dynamic model is presented and the algebraic relations to determine natural frequencies of the drive are given. The motion equations of output rod at full composition of load are given. Using Lagrange transformation as applied to ball screw transmission, the expression for reduced mass of output element was derived. The reduced mass of load depends on the jet motor design and exerts basic influence on the drive’s natural frequencies. The evaluation is given of reduced mass change from the jet motor moment of inertia and reducer transmission coefficient. Based on the proposed algorithms, the dynamic characteristics of servo drive were constructed: transient process and amplitude-frequency characteristic. The drive has relatively low pass band, which is explained by the value of reduced mass of load.

Annotation: The article deals with the problems of applying new approaches to formation and improvement of operation system. Turning of space hardware and services into marketable commodity requires their new qualities that determine competitiveness. The main task of presented works was approbation of new approaches to improvement of space launch systems operation quality and operation process effectiveness by the example of prospective Cyclone-4M space rocket complex. The works to form and improve its operation system were performed using the methods based on general theory of space systems operation and the pocedures based on the results of research work conducted by Yuzhnoye SDO in 2015 for analytical evaluation of launch services costs. The topicality of the article is confirmed by the results of practical application of new approaches in main directions of Cyclone-4M space rocket complex operation system improvement, which allowed increasing commercial attractibility of Yuzhnoye SDO-developed systems due to reduction of direct recurring costs and annual expenses. The article describes the course of development of operation model of a created object; based on investigation of the processes of this model, the object’s performance characteristics are detemined. The basis of the article are the organizational-and-technical decisions used herewith and the results obtained for Cyclone-4M space rocket complex. The article is of practical interest for specialists involved in creation of space rocket complexes and other sophisticated systems where the operation system is a multi-level organizational-technical system.

Annotation: This paper describes the effective approach for the technology of the rocket airframe development testing, based on the method of numerical modelling, which enables the virtual experimental runs prior to the beginning of the development testing to check the performance of the standard airframes and predict issues of concern. The method is realized based on the computer models developed in the ANSYS Workbench environment. Based on the offered method the complex mechanical system, which attaches the cluster projectiles in the conditions of the temperature exposure and heat cycling, underwent the virtual tests. Computational models, criteria and test procedures necessary for the analysis of the mechanical condition and prediction of the performance of the actual airframe of the warhead were developed. Moreover, computational models consider all the design and technological features of the airframe: layout of the projectiles attachments, initial stress-strain state of the system after the tightening of the threaded connections, friction between the components of the system and their mutual displacement, temperature dependence of the physical and mechanical characteristics and ultimate stress of materials. For the specified loading conditions during the ground operations with the warhead, the most dangerous computational cases are determined which have been implemented during the virtual tests. Test results were used to conduct the static analysis of the mechanical condition, strength and conditions for performance of the actual structure of the attachment under the impact of the operating levels of temperature exposure and heat cycling. Results of the virtual tests confirm the performance of the projectiles attachment system and are introduced into production in the phase of engineering development.

7. Experience of Development and Use of Generator Pressurization System for Tanks of Launch Vehicles on High-Temperature Propellants

Annotation: Long-term experience in development, development testing and use of generating systems of fuel tanks pressurization for rockets powered by nitrogen tetroxide and unsymmetrical dimethylhydrazine is summarized. Replacement of gas bottle pressurization systems with generating ones on such launch vehicles as 15A14, 15A15, 11K68 (8K67), 15A18M substantially simplified operation, reduced the pneumohydraulic feed system mass at least twice and its cost – by five times. Typical stages of development and introduction of the pressurization generating systems are shown: development of generators, their development testing, study of the composition and parameters of gas. The important steps were the development of methodology for pressurization system parameters calculation, which enabled achievement of the substantial improvements of their characteristics, appearance of the high-performance hightemperature (up to ~ 1000o C) unsymmetrical dimethylhydrazine tank pressurization system, study of the degree of impact of each of the pressurization system parameters on the tank pressure. Accounting of the correlation between the flow rate and the generator gas temperature improved the output performance, as well as simplified and reduced the amount of development testing of the pressurization system. Important role of the gas sprayer design in pressurization system parametric configuration is described, and the advanced versions are shown taking into account g-loads, changes in temperature, pressure and propellant level inside the tank. Significant phase in the development of the generating pressurization system was the effective use of the high-temperature pressurization of the fuel tank with submerged propulsion system. Besides for the first time the effect of mechanical temperature destratification of the propellant in the tanks was observed, which occurs during the propulsion systems shutdown. Due to this effect, the Dnepr LV payload capability enhanced. Successful engineering solutions in the design of the pressurization system were defended by ~80 copyright certificates and patents of invention, ~40 of which were successfully implemented.

Annotation: This article contains results of methodology and standards development for life prediction of launch site structures to launch various types’ launch vehicles into near-earth orbit. Launch sites have been built in various countries of the world (European Union, India, China, Korea, Russia, USA, Ukraine, France, Japan, etc.). In different countries they have their own characteristics, depending on the type and performance of the launch vehicles, infrastructure features (geography of the site, nomenclature of the space objects, development level of rocket and space technology), problems that are solved during launches, etc. Solution of various issues, arising in the process of development of the standards for justification of launch site life is associated with the requirement to consider complex problems of strength and life of nonuniform structural elements of launch sites and structures of rocket and space technology. Launch sites are the combination of technologically and functionally interconnected mobile and fixed hardware, controls and facilities, designed to support and carry out all types of operations with integrated launch vehicles. Launch pad, consisting of the support frame, flue duct lining and embedded elements for frame mounting, is one of the principal components of the launcher and to a large extent defines the life of the launch site. Main achievements of Ukrainian scientists in the field of strength and life are specified, taking into account the specifics of various branches of technology. It is noted that the physical nonlinearity of the material and statistical approaches determine the strength analysis of useful life. Main methodological steps of launch site structures life prediction are defined. Service limit of launch site is suggested to be the critical time or the number of cycles (launches) over this period, after which the specified limiting states are achieved in the dangerous areas of the load-bearing elements: critical cracks, destruction, formation of unacceptable plastic deformations, buckling failure, corrosion propagation, etc. Classification of loads acting on the launch sites is given. The useful life of launch site is associated with estimation of the number of launches. Concept of low and multiple-cycle fatigue is used. Developing strength standards and useful life calculation basis, it is advisable to use modern methods of engineering diagnostics, in particular, holographic interferometry and acoustic emission, and to develop the high-speed circuits of numerical procedures for on-line calculations when testing the designed systems.

Annotation: This paper suggests method for analysis of the dynamics of the aircraft with weight asymmetry (transverse displacement of the center of mass) maneuvering in the atmosphere under the impact of the short-time alternating moment of engine thrust, spread out over a period. The engines are installed on the bottom of the aircraft at the maximum distance from its longitudinal axis. Angular motion with nominal and perturbed performances of the aircraft and flight conditions has been consistently considered. Before maneuvering, the aircraft is set at the trimming angle of attack, determined by the magnitude of transverse displacement of the center of mass and aerodynamic characteristics. The direction of the aircraft maneuvering in the atmosphere depends on the acting moments of forces and time diversity of the engine firings to speed up and shutdown the angular motion. In the absence of disturbances, the angular motion of the aircraft shows in part signs of regular precession (almost constant precession velocity and nutation angle) and autorotation (close to zero self-rotation angle). Under the influence of disturbances, the spread of the aircraft angular motion parameters increases, mainly at the angle of precession, which characterizes changes in the direction of maneuvering. Composition of disturbances includes the spread of the aircraft technical characteristics (position of the center of mass, moments of inertia, aerodynamic coefficients, velocity head, etc.), errors associated with the operation of the engines (thrust spread, time of ignition and shutdown, angular alignment of their longitudinal axes). Terminal control was introduced to realize the given final state and to reduce the disturbances impact on the maneuvering parameters based on the registered deviations of the angular motion from the nominal one after the first shutdown of the attitude maneuver engine. Monte Carlo method (1000 variations of random realizations of the acting perturbations) confirmed the effectiveness of the proposed terminal control of the angular motion of the aircraft to provide the specified maneuvering parameters.

Annotation: The main task of the radiotransparent radome design is to develop a structure that reliably protects the aircraft components, sensitive instrumentation of the guidance system from incoming air flow and heating in all phases of operation, meeting all the requirements of minimum weight, allowable temperature under the radome, strength, centre of mass and radio characteristics. Development of the radome solves the complex task of coupling and optimization of the geometric aspects of design with physical-mechanical, radio and thermal properties of materials. The article dwells on the aspects of development of the radiotransparent radomes depending on the aircraft flight speed; basic requirements for the selection of outside perimeter configuration; structural materials, providing the required radio properties in combination with minimum mass and necessary strength, acceptable temperature inside the fairing. Yuzhnoye-developed radome for the up to 5 M aircraft was considered, consisting of ogive shell made of АФ-10ПО fiberglass, heat-resistant tip and structural ring made of aluminum alloy. Methods of thermal and strength analyses of the shell are considered, results of calculations confirming the fitness for work of the structure are presented. Options of configuration with ceramic shells and methods of their coupling with rings are presented for the aircraft that reaches up to 5 M speed. Basic principles of radiotransparent radomes development and aspects of ceramic shells coupling with structural rings are considered, as well as the results of strength analyses and thermal calculations that ensure the performance of the structure and equipment in the area under the radome.

It is also observed that frequency of oscillations of the moving part of the rig, registered by the motion sensor, coincides with oscillation frequency, registered by the force transducer, moreover stable behavior of the oscillating processes, registered by the force transducer of the same engines, when they started the basic mode of operation, indicate the stable behavior of those engines and stable performance of the rig.

Annotation: This paper describes the configuration of the rig, designed to fasten the solid-propellant rocket engine (hereunder referred to engine) during their testing, with engine thrust measurements by force transducers. It is determined that rig is the important link in the measurement chain, which directly impacts the thrust measurements, values of which will be used for calculation of the most important engine characteristics (for example, total burn). It was observed that when engine starts the basic mode of operation the thrust-measuring system of the rig is impacted by the dynamic loading caused by the engine thrust, which results in the occurrence of the oscillating processes in the rig, therefore it is important to know the behavior of these oscillating processes to estimate their impact on the thrust measurement during the design of the rigs and their thrustmeasuring systems. It is shown that if there is no procedure in the design practice to define the mode of oscillations in the rig it is rational to do it analyzing experimental thrust – time curves when different engines start the basic mode of operation. Number of experimental thrust (displacement of the engine/rig moving part) – time curves are provided for analysis when four different engines with different ballistic characteristic and capabilities start the basic mode of operation. Oscillating processes in the rig distort the physical behavior of the thrust, which requires additional analysis of the data following the tests, but since the oscillations subside rapidly, they will not significantly affect the calculation of the total burn. It is also observed that frequency of oscillations of the moving part of the rig, registered by the motion sensor, coincides with oscillation frequency, registered by the force transducer, moreover stable behavior of the oscillating processes, registered by the force transducer of the same engines, when they started the basic mode of operation, indicate the stable behavior of those engines and stable performance of the rig.
